Apartments On The Rise. . .
Happy New Year everyone! We think ’09 will be a turning point in this tough market. With that in mind we want to tell you about our Habitational Programs. This housing crunch has really sparked an increase in the Apartment/Condo/Rental Dwelling business. We see it in our homeowners program and are noticing it in our commercial department for Apartments and Condo’s as well. More and more people are occupying apartments for now until this economy improves and the housing market becomes friendly again. So, we want to write your Apartments and Condos. Structures up to 6 stories can have as much as 25% mercantile occupancy, too! Toss in the optional coverages for glass, crime and signs along with the addition of mechanical breakdown and you have the makings of a very nice package. We’ll even look at Bed & Breakfasts and Hotel/Motel risks! It can all be found on our website in the Rapid Raters section. Just a few clicks and a couple of minutes and you’ll have rates in your hands that you’ll be proud to sell. Call us for more questions if needed. Now, get out the phone book and hit the streets. It’s SELLING TIME! (All States)
Hard work pays off in the future, but laziness pays off now.
Premium Financing News. . .
We’ve had a couple of inquiries about how to handle premium financing when a financed policy is endorsed. Keep in mind that no matter whom you use to finance your policy, it is completely up to you to let the finance company know about any additional funding issues needed should an endorsement cause an increase in premium for that policy. We do not send the finance company any notices of additional or return premiums on a given financed policy. Any increase in premium due to an endorsement is added to your monthly agency account and it is up to you to get that additional premium paid, either directly from the insured or added to the finance agreement. When we send you a finance agreement with your quote, it is merely a courtesy to help you get that policy paid for. The finance company we have arranged to do this offers you a lower down payment and extended payment options as a special deal for Statewide producers. That’s about as close a relationship as we have with any finance company. We thought you might like to know for future reference. Confused? Don’t be. Just call your underwriter and they’ll be very happy to give you further explanation on how we handle additional premiums for financed policies. (All States)
We told you that we were working diligently to make our homeowner programs even better (if that’s possible!) and here’s proof! Effective January 1st, 2009 we are now offering $1,000,000 liability coverage in our Titanium (HO3) program, our Copper (DP3) program and our Cobalt (HO6) program!! We used to be tapped out at $500,000 but you convinced us that 1 million dollars coverage was needed, so here it is. We’re working on getting our other homeowner companies to do the same and should have the ‘ok’ in a few weeks! See? You asked, we delivered. We’re very serious about becoming your number one homeowner company. Our rates, coverages and easy rating system are just a few reasons why Statewide is one of the largest insurers of homeowners in the Southwest. If you haven’t checked into all that our personal lines has to offer, now is the time. It’s a New Year and time to try New Things. Call Kyle Hammontree (x940) and let him show you how simple this amazing rating program can be for you. (All States)

Recipe of the Month. . .
We decided to do something fun this year and include a recipe from one of our employees willing to share their secrets. If we get enough feedback, we’ll keep doing it each month! The following recipe comes from Bobbie Taylor, a long-time employee and excellent commercial underwriter:
2 Cans Hormel Hot Chili
2 Packages of Cream Cheese
Franks Hot Sauce
Mix chili and room temperature cream cheese into crock-pot. Add hot sauce as desired and serve with your favorite tortilla chips
Thanks Bobbie!
We’ll give it a try and let you know how we like it.
Let’s talk about it, shall we?
In the past, we were a bit hesitant in writing Work Comp because of certain limitations from our carrier.
Overwhelming demand has encouraged us to sit down with our Work Comp carrier and review the program.
What we saw, we liked and want to pass a few things on to you if you’re considering writing Work Comp with Statewide.
First and foremost, many of the classes require that the risk have 3 or more years of Work Comp experience supported by loss runs.
There are a few classes that don’t require this much experience and we’ll post those guidelines on our web page soon.
Next, we’ll need you to complete an ACORD application and send it to us.
Sometimes we can give you a quote over the phone, but ultimately we’ll need an app, so you may as well get it over with, right?
There is a LOT of Work Comp business out there and we’ve been swamped with inquiries, but keep in mind our acceptable classes are limited, still when we’re good, we’re REALLY good!
Yes, we can compete nicely with the state fund.
Ask your favorite commercial underwriter to go over any questions or concerns you may have.
It’s a hot, demanding market so we might as well dive in and make the best of it!

Any closet is a walk-in closet if you try hard enough.
In case you have forgotten, we have a killer Mobile Home Program that has just been made even better! Given the increase in mobile home values, we needed to meet the market demands by increasing our Coverage A (Dwelling) limits. Effective immediately, we can write mobile homes valued as high as $150,000!! Plus, we’ve lowered the rates!! So, now we can entertain a wider variety of mobile homes at a rate you can definitely sell. It is also available in our easy rating system, the same one you use for your HO3 Homeowner risks. It’s fast, simple and you can issue the entire policy in your office, on the spot! We’ve been writing mobile homes for decades and are just as good as anyone when it comes to coverage and price. Whether it’s in a mobile home park or in a home community, we like them all. Maybe you haven’t taken a look at our Mobile Home Program or maybe it’s been a while?? Now is the time to click the Mobile Home button and see what you may be missing. Have questions about the Mobile Home Program? Call Kyle Hammontree (x940) and let him walk you through one more product we know you’re going to love. (AZ only)
